Business
Is the company getting stronger, not just bigger? · 3 findings−8 of −30
- −5Future segmentAlmost all revenue comes from linear TV: Cable Network Programming USD 7.3bn and Television USD 9.7bn of USD 17.1bn (FY26). Distribution revenue grows only through price increases in a shrinking cable bundle.
- −2Quality of growthQ4 FY26 (+28% revenue, +78% advertising) was driven by the one-off 2026 football World Cup; full-year growth was 5%. Consensus expects revenue to fall 0.4% in FY28, and GAAP EPS fell 22% in FY26 due to investment losses.
- −1Capital allocationBuybacks (2.0bn) plus dividends (0.29bn) exceeded FCF (USD 1.47bn) in FY26, shortly before the company issues about 27% new shares to Roku shareholders at roughly the same price.
Price
Today's multiples against the company's own history and its peers. · 1 finding−2 of −35
- −2Multiples vs own historyForward P/E 10.7 vs 8.9-13.5 (FY22-26) is average, but EV/EBITDA 7.8 is at the top of 6.4-7.9, and P/FCF 18.4 is the highest in five years (8.1-14.1). The stock is no longer cheap vs its own history.
Cracks
Cash flow, customers, debt, insiders, guidance and what sits behind the headline numbers. · 3 findings−13 of −35
- −8M&A and debt (Roku)Fox is buying Roku for about 22bn USD in EV, i.e. about 80% of its own market value: 96 USD in cash plus 0.9693 FOXA shares per Roku share. The cash portion is financed with a 12bn USD bridge facility; net leverage rises from about 0.9x to about 2.8x, and existing shareholders end up with 73%. The synergy target (400m) is low relative to the price, and the deal risk is large.
- −3LawsuitsSmartmatic's USD 2.7bn defamation case is still pending with no trial date set; the Dominion case cost USD 787.5m in 2023.
- −2Governance (Murdoch control)The Murdoch family controls the company through the voting B shares, and FOXA has no voting rights. Lachlan Murdoch has won the control battle against his siblings and had his contract extended to 2030; minority shareholders have no influence over major decisions such as Roku.
Plus
Only documented strengths. · 2 findings+3 of +15
- +2Growth segment (Tubi)Tubi's revenue rose 35% in Q4 FY26 with 17% more viewing time and 110m monthly users; FOX One exceeded expectations.
- +1High ROICROIC 17.4% (up from 12.9% in FY22) and operating margin 20.3%, rising four years in a row.
Caveats
What the score does not capture, or where the data is weak.
Media company (Fox News, FOX broadcast, Tubi); the industry 'Software, cloud & internet' is the closest choice, as media is not on the list. The A share (FOXA) is non-voting. The Roku acquisition (closing expected H1 2027) changes the company markedly; the shareholder vote on 14 Oct 2026 and the regulatory review have not been investigated. Short interest of 11% is probably due to merger arbitrage. Q1 FY27 is reported on 2 Nov. Peer multiples and the terms of the NFL deal have not been investigated.
