Business

Is the company getting stronger, not just bigger? · 3 findings
−13 of −30
  • Margin
GAAP operating margin −1.4% (TTM) after −9 to −11% in FY2023–FY2025; net income −USD 320m TTM, and the FCF margin is only 4.5%. The company has not made money after tax since FY2022.
    −6
  • Quality of growth
Revenue was flat at USD 5.35bn in FY2023–FY2024 and grew only to 5.63bn in FY2025; mobile (Zynga) makes up half of revenue, and the expected growth of 28% in FY2027 comes almost entirely from one title (GTA VI).
    −3
  • Capital allocation
The Zynga acquisition (2022) has led to writedowns of USD 3.0bn in FY2024 and 3.8bn in FY2025; the company issued shares for USD 1.25bn in FY2026, and the share count has risen 4.5% in a year.

Price

Today's multiples against the company's own history and its peers. · 2 findings
−7 of −35
  • Multiples vs own history
Forward P/E 24.7 vs 24.5–46.7 in FY2022–FY2026 (low end), but P/S 5.7 vs 3.8–6.5 and P/B 10.5 vs 2.2–17.1; the price assumes that adjusted EPS rises from 4.10 to 10.29 USD in two years.
    −3
  • FCF yield
FCF yield 0.8% (P/FCF 127, EV/EBITDA 51); even with GTA VI, FCF must multiply before the stock is cheap on cash flow.
    −4

Cracks

Cash flow, customers, debt, insiders, guidance and what sits behind the headline numbers. · 3 findings
−10 of −35
  • Single-title risk (GTA VI)
GTA VI has been delayed several times (from autumn 2025 to 19 Nov 2026); the stock fell 6.7% on 31 Aug on a Forbes report of a possible long delay of GTA Online and leaked footage, and the price is about 24% below the July peak of USD 266.
    −6
  • Earnings quality
Share-based pay of USD 379m (TTM) is larger than the whole FCF of USD 299m; the gap between GAAP EPS (−USD 1.73) and adjusted EPS (about USD 4) is unusually large.
    −2
  • Debt
Net debt USD 1.1bn, debt/EBITDA 3.5 and negative interest cover (−0.65) on a GAAP basis; current ratio only 1.06.
    −2

Plus

Only documented strengths. · 2 findings
+3 of +15
  • Pricing power
About 4.6m pre-orders of GTA VI, of which about 90% have chosen the ultimate edition at USD 100.
    +2
  • Guidance met and beaten
Q1 FY2027 net bookings of 1.39bn USD were above guidance, and FY2027 guidance of 8.0–8.2bn USD (approx. +20%) was reiterated with high confidence in the launch date.
    +1

Caveats

What the score does not capture, or where the data is weak.
Take-Two Interactive (TTWO, Nasdaq). Fiscal year ends 31 March; FY2027 = April 2026–March 2027. GAAP figures are loss-making due to amortisation and write-downs from the Zynga acquisition and large share-based pay, while analysts' EPS is adjusted; forward P/E is therefore based on non-GAAP. The whole investment case depends on GTA VI (launch 19 Nov. 2026), which has not yet been released. Scored before the Q2 report (about 5 Nov.). Games do not fit the industry list; 'Software, cloud & internet' is chosen as the closest.
